Our Drink Menu

Our Story

Selvedge Brewing is a Virginia craft brewery focused on unique small-batch, culinary-inspired beers. Simply, these are beers crafted to be paired with food. And food that is best with beer. Named for the original wool fabrics produced when the mill was a mill, Selvedge beers range from New-England-style IPAs to pastry stouts - and everything in between.

Watch for new beer releases in the coming weeks.

Current Beers

Poplin

Italian Pilsner

Say hello to our little friend, Poplin, an Italian-style pilsner. A snappy dresser with bitterness to match, this pilsner has a honey sweetness from the German pilsner malt and a slight cracker-like flavor from the biscuit malt. What makes this pils Italian (despite being born in the USA)? Answer: The crispness that comes from the addition of German Perle, Hallertau Mittelfruh, and Mandarina Bavaria hops as well as being double dry hopped with Hallertau Mittelfruh and Mandarina Bavaria.

Seersucker

Gose

Just like its namesake fabric that is perfect for hot summer days, this traditional Leipzig-style Gose is a refreshing reprieve from the hot Virginia weather. Brewed with pilsner malt, malted wheat, sea salt and coriander, our Gose is sour, yet balanced with a breadiness on the finish and a touch of salt.

Denim

American Style Lager

You know that feeling when you flip up your collar on that stonewash jean jacket while Kenny Loggins blasts from your tape deck? Our Denim lager gives us those feels - you’re headed to the danger zone and nothing can stop you. This is your dad’s beer in the best way possible.

Fleece — Served on Nitro

Coffee Milk Stout

What’s more cozy than being wrapped up in a fleece blanket next to a roaring fire, sipping on your favorite Grit Coffee? Answer: this coffee milk stout (duh). Featuring a variety of malts, including Chocolate Wheat and Milk Chocolate Malt from Murphy & Rude Malting Co. along with a heavy dose of Mexican Chiapas coffee from Grit Coffee, this stout is super smooth, slightly sweet, and balanced with a nutty and slightly bitter finish.

Three Sheeps to the Wind

Barleywine

There once lived a shepherd who was put in charge of keeping watch over the three most prized sheep(s) in all the land. One day a giant windstorm came out out of nowhere and blew the sheep(s) into the next county, never to be seen again. The shepherd was beside himself after having lost his three sheep(s) to the wind. To ease his pain he poured himself a tall glass of barleywine – not unlike this one – a strong ale with a deep bread and caramel body, balanced by notes of raisin and warming spices.

  • ABV: 12.5%

Velvet

Imperial Stout

Specially made crystal and roasted/chocolate malts from Murphy & Rude Malting lends tons of dark toffee, burnt sugar, and raisin notes to the beer. For mouthfeel, we rely on special chocolate wheat, oats, and a high finishing gravity. Maris Otter and East Kent Goldings, and a small bit of Munich malt contributes toasted bread flavors. Imagine toast with toffee and nutella.

  • ABV: 12.3%

Smoking Jacket

Barrel-Aged 'Velvet' Imperial Stout

How do you improve something that’s already great? Time. And bourbon. We let our Velvet Imperial Stout aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for a year, which amped our already stellar Velvet up to 11. The charred white oak barrels, which were still saturated with bourbon, added the tiniest amount of heat and subtle notes of vanilla and medjool dates. This is the height of comfort, while still being classy AF.

  • ABV: 17.5%
